Not much appears to have changed on the outside of the building but the bricklayers are just finishing off some of the little bits around the roof. They have also done most of the work inside the new school. It is now ready for its windows and doors.

Hello. We are going to talk about the inside of the building. Well let’s get started . As you can see around the edges are going to be our classrooms and the corridor is at the side of the new classrooms. In the middle you can see the door frames waiting to be put in place.

roof begins

November 30th

Here the roof of the new building being built. It’s come a long way from its starting point. It’s amazing how fast the builders work. It looks like a metal foil on a metal frame right now. It’s still in the building process so its supported by scaffolding but soon I can tell it’s going to be a great new building for the school.

Pouring concrete

November 25th

The builders are now putting down concrete for the new floor. They are levelling it out equally.  They are doing room by room  with a special machine. At the moment it is all wet and sloppy but soon it will be all nice and dry. It is very hard to do this because the builders have to be very careful not to step in the concrete. If they do then they will have to repeat the steps over again.

 Steel frame completed

The builders have been putting up the frame work of our new school .They have been on the site for a long period of time. We have been evacuated to our new play ground . The finished frame work shows us what the shape of the building will be when it is finished. Tthe framework has been completed in just five days.  Daniel (CB5)

Steel frame goes up

On November 6th 2006 the builders began to put up the steel framework of the new building. A delivery of steel was made each morning and they put each load up on the same day.

October 2006

The builders have spent most of the month digging out the foundations for the new school. Through the good weather and heavy rain they have not stopped. Concrete mixers have been on site daily. Huge piles of soil have built up by the builder's compound (which used to be half of the all-weather pitch). The soil will be taken away soon.

site cleared

Site cleared ready for the foundations to be dug. The children play on the new playground (up the ramp) which is where the all-weather pitch used to be.

digging up

September 2006

As the new term begins we get used to working on a building site. During the first two weeks the workmen dig out the site for the new building. Although everything is fenced off it doesn't stop the noise!

No more handstands!

The long wall at the top of the playground has gone and a new path has been put in, linking the new 'top' playground with the lower buildings.

no recep

Demolition of the Reception classrooms took place during August 2006 and the area fenced off to make it safe for the children, staff and visitors. The reception classes have moved to rooms which were used for the staffroom and the KS1 library/group room.

New Playground

Workmen have created a new playground on half of the old all-weather sports pitch. The fully tarmaced surface will allow the children to have plenty of play space one the building work begins. The other half of the all-weather pitch will become the builder's compound and store. Contractors involved in the new build will access the site from Edensor Road.
