School Council

Welcome to St Gregory's Catholic Academy Council Page. Take a look!

The school council is a group of children who represent their peers and bring forward their views to improve the school and its grounds.  The members of the school council are two pupils from each class from Years 1-6  (usually one boy and one girl). The school council has been running since 2005 and our achievements have grown each year. Previously, we developed our first 'School Council Charter' so we ensure we deliver on our responsibilities as school leaders;

SCHOOL COUNCIL CHARTER

  • Be a good listener; speak up for your class

  • Be a reliable role model; follow the school Respect Rules

  • Be a confident communicator; take away the right message

  • Be a creative problem solver; consider different solutions

  • Be brave; talk honestly about the issue

At the meetings, held by Mrs Lamb, we decide what we can do to improve the school.  We don’t just decide ourselves what to do, our class peers put their ideas down too through questionnaires and  class discussions.
To decide on the class representative we hold a class election in September. We also nominate a new Chair Person each year.

Our big project last year was working with our school to promote health and safety in and around the school grounds. We created posters for our dining area and established clear roles and responsibilites for older pupils, supporting EYFS and KS1. Our council members played a key part in choosing new equipment for our playgrounds and we look forward to using this very soon!

We also raised awareness of anti-bullying and anti - cyber bullying, which was planned and delivered by ourselves in a whole school assembly and during workshops. This year we have new priorities which are reflected in our school council school priorities board, which will be displayed within our school corridors. COMING SOON!

Newly elected School Council members are:

 George Wheller and Maisy Lewis, Lacey Comber and Noah Tomlinson, Dylan Finney and Mehek Fatima (Y1 and Y2).

 Charlotte Richardson and Lennon Mantle (Y3 and Y4).

 Jessica Fletcher and George Barker (Y5 and Y6).

To all pupils - Please talk to you School Council representatives if you have any suggestions or ideas that you would like to out forward at our next meeting.
