Sports Premium

At St Gregory's our intent for physical education is to develop the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding so that they can perform with increasing competence and confidence in a range of physical activities. These include dance, games, gymnastics, swimming and water safety, athletics and outdoor adventure activities.

The aim of P.E within our Collegiate is to inspire our children to love living a healthy life. We want our children to develop a range of skills to enable them to sustain and enjoy a positive, active lifestyle.

Since September 2013 Primary Schools nationwide have been receiving funding to improve the provision of P.E & Sport.

.

At our school physical education promotes an understanding in children of their bodies in action. It involves thinking, selecting and applying skills, and it promotes positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle. Thus we enable the children to make informed choices about physical activity throughout their lives. We strive to contribute to the development of social, emotional and personal skills necessary for an individual to interact with others, or operate independently and with enjoyment.

At St Gregory's we utilise the Sports Premium funding to enhance physical education and sports opportunities for our pupils. The funding is allocated towards; having specialist sports coaches to deliver high-quality lessons and CPD for staff members, providing sports equipment and resources for various activities and offering extra curricular sports clubs and competitions. These initiatives aim to; increase participation and engagement in physical activity, improve pupils health and well-being, enhance sports provision and competition opportunities, support teacher development and confidence in delivery PE. The funding primarily has a positive impact on the pupils' physical literacy, teamwork & leadership skills, and overall enjoyment of sports.

In 2024/25, we received £19,600 for our PE/ Sports premium funding. Information regarding how this was spent is detailed in the PE and Sports Funding 24-25 document.
