Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs)
Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs) help children develop the essential mental maths skills needed for success across the mathematics curriculum.
Each half term, children will focus on a specific set of key facts in school, which should also be practised regularly at home. These facts are designed to build on prior learning year by year, so it is important that children can recall them quickly and accurately.
We encourage families to practise KIRFs little and often. Short, regular sessions, using games and practical activities, are the most effective way to build confidence and fluency.
By mastering these key facts, children develop a strong mathematical foundation that supports their learning in all areas of maths.
